In this painting, I wanted to capture the Acropora coral in an underwater still life painting. Acropora coral is in the stony coral family and is found in the Indian Ocean, Red Sea, Persian Gulf, and a number of other areas. Unfortunately, they are under the Endangered Species Act due to disease outbreaks, hurricanes, predation, bleaching, temperature increases, and sedimentation.
