The juvenile batfish looks nothing like their adult version. Their body is completely black with a bright orange outline. They're thought to mimic flat worms for protection from predators. As they get older, they stretch out and begin to form a lighter line in their midsection, Eventually, they'll elongate into their adult rounder form.
