The bluespotted ribbontail ray is a species of stingray found throughout the tropical Indian and western Pacific Oceans in nearshore, coral reef-associated habitats. This species prefers to be left alone and is far more likely to swim away from a fight. If cornered, they can lash out with the poisoned barb on the end of their tails, and that venom can prove fatal to many species, including humans.
