Batfish is found in the Indo-Pacific. This painting is the juvenile stage of this fish. The juvenile stage is the most stunning and only lasts a few months. With age, a grey spot appears on its side. The dorsal and anal fins lengthen and become more pointed. It is the beginning of its transformation from a black elongated juvenile to a round shaped grey adult.

These fish play an important role in keeping algae growth under control in our coral reefs.
